From the NFL to the neighborhoods that raised him
Matterial Richardson grew up in Marlin, Texas — one of the most economically challenged communities in the state. He used football as a ladder out, playing at the University of Arkansas before reaching the NFL with the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans.
Now he's bringing that platform back home. Every free camp he runs, every school he walks into to speak — it's his way of reaching back and pulling the next generation up with him. He knows what it means to grow up in a small town with big dreams and no roadmap.

Why Marlin — and communities like it — need us
Raising kids on a single income is hard anywhere. In Marlin and rural towns like it, it's even harder — incomes are lower, jobs are fewer, and the safety nets big-city families rely on are often hours away. That's why we started here, and why our commitment extends to every family facing the same fight across Central Texas.
Our Mission
Founded in Marlin, Texas, Doing It Out of Love was born from a firsthand understanding of what families in rural communities face. Being a single mother has never been harder — and in small towns like Marlin, it's harder still. Paychecks stretch thinner, help sits farther away, and the resources families in Dallas or Austin can lean on simply don't exist here. Doing It Out of Love exists to fill that gap: standing beside single mothers and their children all year long with school supplies, holiday assistance, and whatever each season demands — so that every donation we receive goes directly to those who need it most. No form of giving is too big or too small. Whatever you give, just make sure you're DOING IT OUT OF LOVE!
What we do
Founded on March 3, 2022 in Marlin, Texas, we walk alongside single mothers and underprivileged youth through every season — because when a mom is steady and a child has a chance, whole communities rise.
School supplies
Backpacks and supplies for growing kids — at back-to-school time and all year long, so no child starts behind.
Holiday assistance
The holidays shouldn't be a source of stress for a mom doing it alone. We help make the season bright with gifts, meals, and seasonal support.
Year-round support
Every season brings different needs, so our help stays diversified — and every donation goes directly to the families who need it most.
Free camps & mentorship — led by former NFL player Matterial Richardson
Matterial played for the University of Arkansas, the Washington Redskins, and the Houston Texans — and now he's bringing that experience back to Central Texas. Free youth football camps open to every kid who attends, plus motivational speaking at schools, churches, and community events whenever he's needed.
The Legends: Youth Football & Cheer Camp
MYAC presents The Legends: Youth Football/Cheer Camp '26 Kickoff — the last instructional camp and in-person sign-ups for the Marlin Youth Athletic Commission Fall Football Season. This camp will feature former college and professional athletes there to encourage your athletes and endorse MYAC as one of the Best Programs in Central Texas.

Chilton Pirates Football Camp
On July 10, 2026, Doing It Out of Love hosted the First Annual Chilton Pirates Football Camp at Featherston Football Field in Chilton, Texas — completely free for every athlete who attended. Former NFL player Matterial Richardson led the camp personally, working with incoming 8th through 12th graders on skills, competition, and the mental side of the game. This is exactly what Doing It Out of Love exists to do — come learn, compete, and be a Pirate.

MYAC operates as an official program under the Doing It Out of Love nonprofit umbrella — bringing structured youth football, cheer, basketball, and track programs to Marlin and surrounding communities.

We partner with Marlin High School to connect with students, families, and youth in the community — delivering mentorship, supplies, and motivational speaking directly where they're needed most.

Our partnership with Chilton High School includes speaking engagements and outreach events that put us in front of youth who benefit from mentorship and community support.

Doing It Out of Love is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. EIN: 88-3170343. Effective date of exemption: March 3, 2022. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How funds are used
100% of program donations go directly to single mothers, children, and families we serve. We are a volunteer-led organization — no salaries are paid from donated funds. Zero overhead taken from program dollars.
Donation receipts
Email us at doingitoutoflove@gmail.com after your gift and we'll send a written donation receipt for your tax records. We respond promptly to every message.
How families are selected
We serve single mothers and underprivileged youth in Central Texas who are referred by community members, schools, and churches — or who reach out directly. Every family is treated with dignity and respect.
